1-2-1 Sparring Event – Coolock 12th April
SDTKD were in action in our 3rd 1-2-1 in as many months, competing in Glin Road Sports Complex, Coolock. There events are proving great infill events for match experience for our members.
In February we were in action at the Ayrfield 1-2-1, and in March we held our own at Tallaght Leisure Center. Each time we had some valuable mat time for our players, which is great for 1st timers experience, and experience / confidence builders for our higher grades.
In Coolock, we had a group of 15 players take part all pictured below. Everybody represented themselves & SDTKD very well on the day. We were delighted to see 3 first timers take to the ring, Jack & Oskar faced off against one another for a friendly match, and we had a young Taekwondo Tot Conor, the youngest at the event take part in a fun match early on.
At the more experienced end of the spectrum we has 2 stand out performances with both Sheevaughn & Luke display an early barrage of head shots against their opponents. Sheevaughn illustrating great flexibility & Luke landing a clinical jump spinning back kick to the head for 4 points.
Thanks to the great gang of supporters who came out to cheer the team on & for helping to put away mats at end of the event!
This is the last external test event before the upcoming FINGAL OPEN on May 19th in Baldoyle badminton Centre, which we recommend to all available students. Registrations can be made online at our usual location CLICK HERE. SDTKD Entry fees will be reduced until 18th April, they will revert to full price from 19th April. ITU Licence numbers are required for registration. SDTKD ITU Licence numbers were emailed to club in Digital Club Update 11.04.14.
