Congratulations to our Taekwondo Tots who were all awarded new Stars this evening. In particular those pictured in front
row with black certificates, who were awarded their final black star. Kyle, Khaled, Amy, Nathan, Aaron, Reece. Black stars also went two Daniel & Bradley who could not make it today. Maichaela & Cian were also recipients of our first Golden Stars!!! Group joins previously awarded black star students; Oisin, Leon & Jason. Thank you to SDTKD for the warm welcome of all Black Star students to ‘The Big Club’ this evening, the applause was heart warming! Also thank you to coaches who have contributed to the Tots Development in recent times; Mr. Leonard & Mr. Murphy, and Coaches who started them off; Master Taaffe & Master Buffini. Well Done All!!!
The SDTKD ‘Taekwondo Tots’ programme is an early beginning in martial arts for 3-6 year olds, devised by Head Coach Master Taaffe in 2009 as a stepping stone in Sport Taekwondo Development. Since its inception, SDTKD have yielded many up & coming champions to full Taekwondo training. The fun class composed of 80% fun & games, with learning based activities, has 20% non contact kicking & punching involved. Coach Taaffe noted his delight at recent promotion of students, ‘Seeing these little ones reach their black star was one of the highlights in our short club history, it was like a mini black belt achievement at their level, and we hope it puts the foundations in place for a prosperous & enjoyable future in our wonderful sport’ . The group was originally set up to allow young siblings of full Taekwondo students in club have an opportunity of training, whilst allowing SDTKD’s advanced players some extra hall time in back of large room in Tallaght Leisure Centre, and is now know as the most enjoyable coaching class by all club coaches
